Q: Legally what do I do to include game screenshots in a book?

I'm considering writing a book about Nintendo's NES and would like to be able to include screenshots of many of the games. What do I need to do to be able to include those screenshots without being sued? Does this fall under the copyright law's "fair use"? Does the fact that they are older games make any difference ?(most are 15-20 years old now) I know almost nothing about the legal side of things so any help or direction would be great.

Try finding out who published the games (i.e. Nintendo, Aklaim, Tecmo, etc) and write them an email.
That's my only suggestion.
