Were you reasonably good when you first started or did you develop skill from nothing? Did you start from a young age or did you start later?

My parents tell me I started showing a fondness for drawing at age four. While not a prodigy by any means, I did have an obivous gift for it. I was self taught until my last two years of high school, where I had the best art teacher of my life. I then went on to college, where I was further taught by many wonderful men and women. Ultimately though, even in college, much of what I learned was self taught outside of the classroom. My creative instinct is strong and as much a part of my personality and mind as anything other built in part of who I am.
