I have been playing guitar for a while. I can only read tablature. Do you think its a good idea for me to start learning standard notation?

it never hurts to know more. The more versatile you are, the better equipt you'll be in the future. If you're just looking to play in bands and such, you'll probably never need it, but if you want to get seriously into song writing, and understanding music, then you'd be hopeless without it. If guitar is something you want to get serious about, then you should never be willing to stop learning.
