Warning: strtotime() [function.strtotime]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' instead in /home/question/public_html/scripts.php on line 1574

I'm a researcher who has to track, retrieve, and make use of a large number of journal articles, books, newpaper clippings and websites. These items are both hard copy and electrinic.
I'm looking what type(s) of systems can be used to build a robust library. I've got Endnote on the way but am still thinking about the physical (and virtual) organization of the materials. Any suggestions?

I'm on a Mac, so I have QuickSilver with a tagging plug-in, so, all my electronic records (i.e. pdfs with the occasional local html) can be tagged (e.g. del.icio.us) and linked to their respective Endnote record. I also print out every article I use (I old fashioned and need to be able to have paper copies when writing) and they go into a manilia folder that I have label (with a brother p-touch labeler). The labels themselves mirror the reference format for the item, and they are then filled in the same order as they would be listed in the ref section of an article.
That said, I'm waiting for OpenOffice.org to get Bibliographic up to speed. (They currently have minimal bibliography capabilities, but not enough to leave Endnote.)
