To be honest, its common practice in eastern countries, including, india and pakistan. many weddings are held with first cousins. so its very common to fall in love with your cousin, go on dates, etc. And later marrying the same cousin. So, to most people in the east, its just plain normal.

It's also been shown that marrying your cousin and having kids does not lead to genetic problems associated with inbreeding.  The genetic variation is enough to escape most problems unless of course your cousin is actually also your sister because of all the wierd inbreeding tendencies that run in your family.  Having kids with your brother or sister however is still a bad idea or with your mother or father for that matter.

There's a reason why most cultures/religions hav put the limit on who you can marry/breed with to no closer than 1st cousin, but it is generally recommended you marry at least 5 degrees seperated for health of the society to continue unabated. Generally the excuse for so close as 1st cousin is given because of limited options, and this allowed everyone to have a mate, especially since high and/or agreeable characters were considered to run in families. Most tests relating to health of population, and consequently, beauty of the populace tends to be in favor of the more distant the better, so long as both are healthy and agreeable.
