Q: What is the easiest way to learn Japanese?

I am looking to learn Japanese and I wanted to peoples thoughts as to the best way to learn.

Private Lessons

Other then school lessons... you can do private lessons, some of my friends meet with other Japanese people for coffee and you teach them english and they teach you Japanese... I think it works really well...

RosettaStone video lessons

I've done some video-based lessons made by a company called Rosetta Stone and they are pretty good. Much less expensive than taking lessons but probably not as effective as real person-to-person contact.

and the absolute easiest way to learn a new language is to watch television broadcasted in the language that you want to learn.

Try http://lrnj.com/ It's a free NES style RPG that teaches the symbols. I'm not sure if he has a vocabulary version yet, but it's worth checking out.
