bahhhh there are a million different answers out there to this question. the better question to ask is, what is going to be best for your life? me, i tend to think that we were made to enjoy god forever (and thus sin is the failure to appreciate him over everything else

The Screwdriver Example
Submitted By: Caspy7 ( 159 days, 8 hours, 36 minutes ago )
An excellent question. One of the most important ones that can be asked I believe. Meaning is derived from purpose. When you see a screwdriver you know its intended purpose. The meaning of that screwdriver's existence is to screw and unscrew screws. It was created with this purpose in mind. The next question that comes to mind is, "Where did the screw driver's purpose come from?" It was invented by a man (or group of men) in the middle ages. It was designed and then produced. So the screwdriver's purpose came from the intent of its creator(s)

Valid example IMO, thank you.

Wrong question...
Submitted By: RavenLemon ( 156 days, 3 hours, 42 minutes ago )
Before asking yourself what is the meaning of your like, you should ask yourself what is the meaning of everybody's life? What is the true purpose of humanity? Why ask that? Because you are going to die, and nothing you do will change that. So all our actions should be toward helping those who will live after us. I have only 2 answers to the purpose of humanity: peace and absolute knowledge. So now from that, you can ask yourself, "what is my purpose?" What can I do that will serve humanity's purpose?
Submitted By: I wish I knew
Sound arguement for anyone. I've found there to be more to it, but I think that's a perfect place to start for most, including myself, RavenLemon.

42 x
Submitted By: dev ( 159 days, 16 hours, 9 minutes ago )
I think it is 42 plus or minus x. All you have to do is find out what "x" is.
Submitted By: dev
It looks like the plus sign was filtered out in the title of my answer.

Signifigant segments of my comments are removed I've found, so I try to keep it short. Which is ok, since I'm not a fast typist.

Submitted By: vozcelik ( 159 days, 15 hours, 17 minutes ago )
Whenever someone asks this question my blog's google rank increases. just google "ponderings on life the universe and everything" to see. I am the first one out there :) Aside from that, to me, the meaning of life is what you make out of it. You wanna be happy than its happiness that makes your life meaningful. You want a soulmate? your life's meaning is her/him. You want to f*ck with all the beatiful/handsome gals/guys around. Then that's the meaning for you. To state is other way around. The meaning of life is you and only you. Think about it: if you weren't here. Wouldn't life be meaningless?
Submitted By: I wish I knew
Our life perhaps, since it wouldn't be at all, but life in general? Very different answer would be necessary...

love
Submitted By: chadom ( 156 days, 4 hours, 1 minute ago )
Why are you alive? Because you parent want you. Why they want you? because of their love. The meaning of you life is your parent's love...
And at the starting point ? Nature/God...

Other question : what the aim of life ?
Submitted By: I wish I knew
Hard to get more fundamental in such simple terms, but I've found it ultimately impossible to truely distinguish between "aim" and "meaning".

The only people to ever actually ask this question are, the depressed, emoitionally unstable, suicidal, those about to die or those mourning the death of a loved one.

Which happens to be most people at some point in their life.

Untrue. This question is asked daily by many who want to look just a little deeper than the surface for truth.

InfoPoet is correct methinks, though perhaps, not the "untrue" part. If things were already all

To find out what is most perfect to dwell on... Rinse (off the bad), and Repeat (what is good)... That is called love. (also the first two commandments which all commandments/universal laws hang according to some guy we all hear about)

It's quite simple.
Submitted By: ( 157 days, 16 hours, 15 minutes ago )
The meaning of life is to be born, multiply and then die. Not much more to it.
Submitted By: I wish I knew
That's pretty arbitrary I've found, so I look for meaning more deeply.

So much time ago, yet still we can't underst
Submitted By: thePhilosopher ( 222 days, 13 hours, 3 minutes ago )
If you truly seek the answer to this than look at the only answer Jesus gave us.  Treat your neighbor as you would pray to be treated. If it weren't the most important than he would not have, with nearly his last words said, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." Even his last moments were spent treating those that were to crucify him as he would like to have been treated himself.  Hate breads hate, love cast the light for others to follow.  Treat life like a joke, it's your choice.  Your loved ones to come will be the ones to suffer, don't worry, you'll be okay.
