According to the teachings of Jesus...

Although I believe personal hell is temporary despite the fire of hell being eternal, as God is an all consuming fire and eternal, I will detail some of my understanding below.
According to the teachings of Jesus, those that would think of others in hell first will go first. as in the saying about heaven "The last will be first the first last."
Meaning those who consider all others to go first will be the first in heaven as they've been the most generous, and hence most godly. Godly in that they've done as as God does, provides life for all, sun shine on all, rain for all, ect equally, without preference or bias beyond the needs individual vs universal. God judges you according to how you judge others in my experience. "Judge not lest ye be Judged."
Everyone is judged by the universal qualities, and each individual must be judged according to their, God given, ability - If God is a Just God.
The sermon on the mount details this theme especially as well.
That is a portion of my understanding.

Why did Freud get on the list when in fact he wanted to make people better?

Parents are the tooth fairy and Santa Claus, who was based on Saint Nicolaus, a real person. So in fact there are many Santa Clauses, and Tooth Fairies - Far more than no to either. Everything we believe in exists to some degree, though perhaps not independant of our imaginations, or our making.

Going to Hell:
People who think they should pick who goes to hell
Those guys that make blisterpacks so hard to open
That homeless guy that is always screaming "Ants! Ants!"
Going to Heaven:
Just me. Heaven is like my own personal tree-fort, and unless you're in my club, you can't come.

In the long run, I wonder who will have done more for charity? Gate's with his philanthropies or Torvalds with open source?
Now if Lego or someone ever comes up with modular open source hardware blocks that we can put Linux on ... perhaps we can bring a little heaven to earth. Build your own ipod, or umpc, or parallel arrays, or robots, or machine tools .... with snap on displays and keyboards.
Ahhhh... a tinkerer's heaven!
