Submitted By: yodaob1, 309 days, 17 hours, 27 minutes ago
What would be the best print server for home use? Linksys has some that are wireless. But in the avrage home what would work best for inkjet (HP7660) printers?
Please try not to post duplicate answers... if you see an answer that you want to post, just add a vote to it and you can add a note as well. Thank You

Apple Airport Express

Apple's Airport Express is a fantastic print server. It supports a wide range of USB printers. The thing I like best is the easy of configuration. Using Bonjour for Windows add printer wizard, your printer is automatically found and configured.
Apple is no longer maintaining an official Printer compatibility list however there is a site documenting a unofficial list of printers known to work and there are quite a few of them.

Your HP7660 is supported by using version 2.7 of the driver.
Downsides are that the Airport Express may (or may not) be more expensive than another solution. I can only say that I have owned other print servers that were a true hassle to setup, while the Airport is effortless. You also have the benefit of AirTunes audio streaming and a built in WiFi router.

We use the DP301P for all of our business cusomters b/c it is so cheap and easy to install. Ocassionally it will hang up but this can be fixed by pulling the power for 30 seconds and powering backup. Ocassionally they go bad but at the cost it's no big deal to replace. Also it works with windows, linux, and macs.
