Q: What PC upgrades should I buy for better gaming?
Submitted By: DaveF, 2 days, 9 hours, 7 minutes ago
I'm looking to play a few new video games and want to upgrade my pc to make it better handle the more detailed settings.
I can afford to spend about $600 ... what should I buy?
Here are the current specs of the machine:
Shuttle AN35-Ultra Socket A mother board
AMD Athlon XP 3200 Barton 400MHz FSB Socket A Processor
ATi RADEON9100 128M DDR video card
1 Gig (2 512 sticks) of crucial pc3200 ddr sdram
1 300 gig western digital 7200 rpm / 8meg cache hard drive
2 300 gig Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm /8meg cache hard drives
NEC dual layer DVD burner
Windows XP pro
Any suggestions as to the best gaming bang for my buck I can get out of $600 worth of upgrades to this machine? Thanks!

I would upgrade your video card anywhere from $200 to $400, and I would suggest going with a geforce which work just a bit better with AMD than ati. Then I would upgrade your processor to the fastest the the mboard will take.
