Q: Why does my keyboard stop working all of a sudden on intel iMac?
Submitted By: mythtvn00b, 50 days, , 18 minutes ago
I am using a 20" intel imac with the stock Apple keyboard. Every once in a while the keyboard will become unresponsive and in order to get it to work again I have to unplug it and plug it back in. It seems to do this randomly. Any ideas?

Well it could be alota things, but there are the tree most common:
1. The joints on the cable that connects from your keyboard to your computer have internally freyed, and are thus short circuit depending on the position of the cable.
2. Your keyboard is all full of tiny bits of stuff that have built up over the years, and as luck will have it every so often some of that stuff gets in the way of the sensor disabling use, "in this case however only a few keys would be disabled not the entire keyboard".
3. Your poor computer has grown weary of those long nights crunchin numbers, and has forgotten how to comunicate with your keyboard, and thus needs a reminder of what is goin down with the keyboard. I would imagine that there might be a utility to fix keyboard associated problems, that is a guess though, in any case if it is the software a clean install of the OS should fix any software related issues.
I suggest the first two options before moving on to the third, you could also try using the keyboard on another computer to see if you get the same results.
