Q: How can I troubleshoot LDAP service on SuSE?

My LDAP service isn't functioning and I don't know how to go about figuring out what's wrong. I can start and stop the service and it claims to start and stop as expected, but I can't connect to it with an LDAP browser or login with an LDAP user account.

I fixed the LDAP problem by reinstalling the whole OS. It was a new setup anyway. I wish SuSE used MD5 passwords by default, now the only way I can think to make that transition is with another reinstall.
