Q: Can you run OSX on any computer?
Submitted By: furst, 306 days, 7 hours, 10 minutes ago
I am currently running Windows and always have. Is it possible for me to run that sleak OSX Mac OS on my computer? Is it as compatible with things as Windows is? What do I have to lose by switching over, if it's possible.
Please try not to post duplicate answers... if you see an answer that you want to post, just add a vote to it and you can add a note as well. Thank You

just go buy a mac mini. i wonder why people want to make epic work for themselves. and why hamstring yourself to mac software? nothing runs on it. APPLE itself will begin offering both OSX and Windows this fall on its machines even!

It can be done, but it's not simple.
Start here:
http://www.uneasysilence.com/os-x-proven-hacked-and-running-on-an-ordinary-pc/
You ask if it's compatible with "things".
Software-wise: no. You need Mac-specific software to run on OSX. Some software is sold as dual-OS, but not most. Your PC games will not work under OSX.
Hardware-wise: somewhat. Some hardware (printers) will have Mac drivers available. Basic things like mice, keyboards, speakers are fine. More esoteric hardware will most likely have to be Mac-specific.
Hope that helps a bit.
