Q: Name of these children's books?

I am looking for two books of my childhood, and I cannot remember what they are called.
The first involves a girl who refuses to take a bath, and because of this subsequently turns orange.
The second involves a girl who has a bunch of nightmares or somthing. I remember a few scenes from the book. These include:
- the girl laying in bed with monster-like eyes peering out from under the rug, under the bed, out of the closet, etc.
- the girl being sucked down a drain in a bathtub
- the girl being pulled undeneath the steps of an escalator
That's all I remember as I was probably about 4-6 at the time these came out. I am 24 now, so this was circa 20 years ago. Anybody have any ideas?
