"Gems of Divine Mysteries" - Are you sure you meant any genre? I only read religious and philosophical works any more except for some online bits. "Critique of Pure Reason" by Immanuel Kant.

I do mean any genre.  I recently read Camus' Myth of Sisyphus and The Plague and Kierkegaard's The Sickness Unto Death.

Any of Terry Pratchett's book from the Discworld series. I'd personally recommend Mort and Soul Music. :)
