Learn about the property management

I've heard more horror stories regarding the people running the apartment complex... Make sure that you can talk to a current/former resident, or at least check out online ratings for the place.

cost and benefits
Submitted By: J-mo ( 242 days, , 48 minutes ago )
I myself have been looking for an apartment..the main thing to watch out for is how many utilities are really included and even some that are you may have to pay a deposit and these can get quite nasty (gas) another big thing is the location and neighbors...depending on what you're looking for

There apears to be problems with the "Add Answer" it removed most of my answer leaving only the 1st line. well all i wanted was a shower i could use daily over how close it was to my school :)

The dash charater I've noticed cut my comments off from there.... No more hyphenated compounds for me.

well then no more hyphenation for me either. i said every shower head was either to my nipples or my shoulder. i just wanted a shower that i didnt have to crouch under. most of the apartments i looked at were close to school but had low showers, i took the one further away with the better taller shower.

Clean and cost effective for use.

That's all I care about, that it's clean and well priced for how I use it. The surrounding town and neiborhood are included in considering how I use it though.

My current situation
Submitted By: azGFX ( 242 days, 3 hours, 3 minutes ago )
I rented an apartment about 20 minutes from work and my parents. It is only 390$/ mo all utilities. Its decent. My landlords are excellent. They fix things promptly and timely. When I am late on rent (only a day) they tell me to not include the late fee. (but this is a result of the pay periods at work). What to look for: 1. Location 2. Heat and other utilities 3. The landlord(s) (some can be out right jerks) 4. Internet and cable tv service. 5. Size of the apartment for the cost. 6. Cleanliness of the apartment. These are things that I would look for.

I didn't realize how bad the parking was at my comlex was until I had moved in already.  Next time I will make sure there is plenty of unreserved parking near my unit.
