Infinite number of subjective answers

The more subjective the question, the more answers that run the gamut you will get. Music and art are TOO subjective to have a focused answer. Some people will say Gheorghe Zamfir, while others might say Megadeath. It's all taste.

Can't anyone commit to one band as best?
Submitted By: frickindeal ( 242 days, 15 hours, 2 minutes ago )
The correct answer is: Led Zeppelin
Submitted By: GageBlack
If i had to commit to one band it would probably be Arrowsmith because they have been around FOREVER and withstanding the test of longevity like they did is really something.
Submitted By: brisk
maybe if you knew how to spell "Aerosmith" i'd agree with you. But as far as best overall band, Led Zeppelin is a better candidate.

Rage Against The Machine

They rose to prominence very quickly, using a profound fusion of rap and heavy metal to speak to masses of disenfranchised, disillusioned people. They are the American Sex Pistols.

The music is layered and technical, yet silly somtimes. They sold out every show in their last years. People walked 15 miles after a day stuck in traffic to hear them one last time, even when it meant sleeping in mud. They quit in part because they just couldn't get any greater!

AC/DC, Led Zepplin or any other 70's/80%
Submitted By: GageBlack ( 242 days, 16 hours, 26 minutes ago )
If you judge the best band based on talent, then the guitarists of the 70's and 80's had the most talent of any other musician and for that matter, any other genre of music to date. The things these people could do with a guitar still amaze me today. Not many musicians have that kind of talent with a instrument.

David Bowe nudged the beetles to second in an international poll that was taken by time magazine. And Radioheads THE BENDS was rated the best album of all time. also mentioned were, Brian Eno, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson!

Okay, so I have about 13 thousand songs in my collection, purchased through iTunes or otherwise legally aquired, of course. I may get an album and love one song off of it and usually I end up adding that to a playlist of favorites or something like that. That playlist has hundreds of songs on it and sure they aren't all the greatest songs but the point is, how can someone pick one band or musician when they could only reflect a tiny portion of what music is, or can be?

There have been many bands who have contributed to the progression of music, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys......etc etc etc.

Bands that strike me now are Opeth and Tool. I am biased towards heavy music though and I'm not familiar with every single band or musician ever to exist. But in terms of sheer creativity and technical achievement I really dig Opeth and Tool these days
