I had a friend who counted once, and it took her 227 licks.
That was with rotating the lollipop every lick to keep it even.

depends on how much saliva is present, age of tootsie pop, what type of animal you are - there is a formula to it, but there is so many factors involved even our good friends at Harvard have yet to discover it

I remember the Tootise Pop commercial from years ago where a wise Owl was asked this question. He took three licks then crunched it up with his 'teeth' and said "Three". This leads to a new question ... do owls have teeth? No.
