I would only play it if it was sort of like planetside. But anybody can use any mech, but only experanced players could goto certin parts, also you should have to join a clan. Say 2 clans that are run by the devs, and everybody can join! But have the option for people to make their own plans! Well feel free to use this (any one)

I would play an decent game with mechs in it :P I'll agree with the other answer in that the ability to utterly customize is key.

The game needs to be fun first and foremost (most mech games are overly complicated). If they had something with gameplay similar to Unreal games or even Quake/Doom games it would be fun.

Battletech would be an absolutely awsome genre to make a MMORPG.

The technology is finally here to be able to make the battletech universe in all it's glory. From Massive battletech battles to espionage, politics, space/aerial combat, ground landings, Professions, guerilla tactics.

And I don't want death to be pointless, If somone shows up in their Atlas you better believe he's a threat because there is permadeath, and he's been alive a very long time to afford a 100 tonner.
