How do i know what type of RAM i have without opening the casing?

I want to spend around $1000

I might have $500 to burn and want to assemble a simple desktop system that won't be used for gaming. I will use it for word processing, the internet, backing up movies and music. I have a monitor. What would you do?

I have 4 USB ports on the back of my computer. A few months ago one stopped working.
When a device was plugged in, windows would say it couldn't recognize it.

Now all but 1 say that. So I have basically 1 out of 4 USB ports working.

I've tried a format a while back which didn't work at all.

I'm not too concerned with the noise, as long as it's quieter that a stock athlon 64 3200 heatsink fan. Also,it should be below $60 and water cooling is not an option. I am using a 20" intel imac with the stock Apple keyboard. Every once in a while the keyboard will become unresponsive and in order to get it to work again I have to unplug it and plug it back in. It seems to do this randomly. Any ideas?

I bought a Sharp AM-900 printer/scanner/copier/fax multifunction unit for my parents last year, but they just got a new laptop and now can't find the driver disc. Windows doesn't have the printer in its built-in list and it can't find anything when it looks online. I've checked on Sharp's USA, Japan, and Europe sites and none have drivers for this model. I'd rather not pay for a replacement disc, so does anybody either 1) have the driver disc and can share it? 2) have the amazing surfing ability to find the drivers online? thanks.
