Is there any way to lockdown a network to prevent unauthorized computers from plugging in, and also prevent them from setting an IP with another computer on the network (thus causing ip conflicts and havoc on the network)?

What is the best software, free or paid for incase of computer theft.

After reading an interesting article on how easy it is to recover deleted files on a hard disk, I started to wonder how someone actually becomes a Digital Forensics Specialist.  For instance, if you were involved in law enforcement, would you have to become a police officer first?  Do you generally need a degree in Computer Science in order to find this type of work?

I am registered to a number of shopping websites and have my credit card details on their database saved for me so I don't have to keep re-entering them. Only myself has access to the accounts on these shopping sites and I always log out of them.

I was wondering if it is ok then to keep them on there? Is it safe from people trying to hack into the site? An expert on this would be greatly appeciated.
