Q: Offline boredom solutions? (winXP laptop)
Submitted By: Mace, 243 days, 15 hours, 19 minutes ago
So.. yeah. I've got a laptop and I'm running out of fun stuff to do (not necessarily games, but simulation programs, drawing programs like ASCII art studio too) while there's no internet access available (believe it or not, my town isn't saturated in wifi :P), so if anyone has a few solutions it'd be greatly appreciated.

What I do on the weekend when I'm bored is that I turn on bittorrent on another computer and it sucks up all of my bandwidth coming into my house so it's like I don't have internet whenever it's running. When that happens, I go do some more 3D modeling on my XPS laptop. I learned Inventor almost two years ago and I'm on my way with 3ds max and Maya. I'm learning these from mostly books so I'm learning stuff I WANT to learn (intrinsic motivation = best kind of motivation). So I just do basic free lancing stuff and I'm still in high school!
If the laptop can't handle CPU-intensive tasks like that, I would suggest the same but for programming. I have a thick Java book I'm trying to get through.

Web design, graphic design, programming.. You can do all that offline most of the time. Can even use your off time at school to make money using those skills.
