Will people abuse this site as an avenue of advertisement?
Submitted By: furst (144)
I've been here for just a few minutes and have seen many people posting questions pretty much for the sole purpose of plugging their site. Do you think toys are going to continue to abuse this site just to post a link to their own space of insignificance?
Linux Distro
Submitted By: firelord (12)
Ok, not starting a flame war but I need to ramp up on Linux fairly quickly and I don't know what distro I may be using. What would be a fairly easy distro to dual boot with my Windows XP laptop. I have a Dell Inspirion 9300 and I'd like to be able to use the majority of its hardware. I'm a longtime DOS/Windows user and can get around fairly well there. www.linuxdoc.org plans on being my friend. Thanks

Why do wires entangle themselves?

Have you ever wondered as to how or why wires entangle themselves, until you realize that in order to set things straightened up again, disconnecting the wires from their holes is the only solution? Is it entropy or some other theory behind it?

Why does my wifi network suck?
Submitted By: kzeal (91)
I have a Linksys wrt54gp2 that came with vonage service. I can't seem to get reception more than 12 feet away. I live in an big old apartment building and I thought it might be that the walls are too thick but one of my neighbors signals appears stronger than mine. I also thought it might be interference from my fridge or microwave oven but I tried moving it with no improvement. does the router just suck?

What makes a good site design?
Submitted By: Raptor235 (608)
I was just reading a article about MySpace (ugly design) vs other good designs... and does design really make a difference? Personally I think it does, especially if you're trying to create a clear message for the user... when I look at my space I find it very busy and hard to find information which is frustrating... anyway if you have a second let me know what do you think makes a good design. Thanks :)

Is there any way to lockdown a network to prevent unauthorized computers from plugging in, and also prevent them from setting an IP with another computer on the network (thus causing ip conflicts and havoc on the network)?

Offline boredom solutions? (winXP laptop)
Submitted By: Mace (19)
So.. yeah. I've got a laptop and I'm running out of fun stuff to do (not necessarily games, but simulation programs, drawing programs like ASCII art studio too) while there's no internet access available (believe it or not, my town isn't saturated in wifi :P), so if anyone has a few solutions it'd be greatly appreciated.
