I'm not looking for an easy answer, just a point in the right direction.  I want to create a website but I know next to nothing.  What software should I learn?  I have a great idea for a website but I need to start learning first.

I'm starting to like this site. At least for a good laugh. It needs a better filter or ranking, because at this rate will have 1000 questions per minute.

I am currently running Windows and always have. Is it possible for me to run that sleak OSX Mac OS on my computer? Is it as compatible with things as Windows is? What do I have to lose by switching over, if it's possible.

How can I create a folder that can be shared over a workgroup based network that all users can have access to without having a profile created for them to login to. Essentially I'd like to create a folder that everyone in my office can read and copy from, off our server without having to login to the server to get to the folder. Currently in order for anyone to get to that folder I've had to create a dummy account on the server and they have to log into it. I'd like to make it simpler.

I use the internet to almost masochistically waste my time. most of my surfing is spent on news bloggs such as digg and slashdot reading items of little relavance to me. case in point, after spring break i checked the slashdot backlogs for all the stories i had missed, and no more than 2 in 7 days qualified as real technology news with real long term implications. video games are even worse, a new game can easily steal hours from me that i'll never get back. some days i just want to punt my computer out the window. Am I alone in my battle against the box?
